Goth Spidey Update

Well, it appears when I said that you could see the Green Goblin mask in the Spider-man teaser poster, I may have spoken to soon. Here's a pic that has the area in question colored some. But there's dissent.

You can join the debate here. You'll need a joblo.com account.

Jack Black RULES!!!

Just cause I'm a Jack Black fan, here's a link to some news about his new project A Nacho Libre, with the Napeoleon Dynamite director. Beck has signed on to do the music

By the way, if it weren't for Jack Black, I would've ignored this altogether. I think Dynamite was one of the worst things to have ever happened to film. IT ISN'T FUNNY!!! Period.

This movie may have potential. It's about some monks who actually want to be wrestlers in Mexico. And, it's Jack Black. Though I'm much more excited about his Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. I'll put up more news on that project as it comes up.

The Code in Trouble

According to Dark Horizons, the highly anticipated flick version of "The Da Vinci Code" may be in trouble. Apparantly there is some plagarism suit for the book, which may completely scrap the mostly-completed movie. Bad news for them.

Goth Spidey, Take Two

Alright, I wouldn't normally post fan art, but the AICN guys have a point. Here's a manip of the Spiderman poster released this last Friday.
Now, I never read much of the original comics, but this is a bit more the like the Venom suit used in the comics. Personally, I like the suit in the first poster better, but this is decent. I just like the more direct link between Spiderman and Venom when you use the same suit, just black. Decide for yourself though. You can compare by scrolling down, or checking out the "Spidey Goes Goth" article.

The Networks Shift

UPN + WB = The CW

FOX (Network Television - (UPN + WB)) = Fox 2

So yeah, UPN and WB are gonna combine to form the CW (C for 'CBS' and W for 'Warner'). It's pretty much gonna combine the programs they want from the two networks. Fox hears this news, and steps in to create 'My Network TV.' It's gonna be mainly formed of the shows dropped in the UPN/WB merge.

So let's analyize this for a moment. Merging UPN and WB creates one less network on televison, and is going to come at the cost of losing some shows. My Network TV shows up to pick up the shows that were once casualities to said merger. So, we're back to having the number of networks with the exact same shows. Does this have anyone else asking, what the hell's the point?

So that's not exactly movie news, but movies are often shown and TV, and I figured it might affect someone, somewhere. If it does, please tell me how. Hell if I can figure out why it might.

Weird Al was Right...

Check out the script review here Ain't It Cool News. Apparently Weird Al can predict the future. His parady "Theme to Rocky XIII" tells the tale of how Rocky ends up owning a restuarent selling the "rye and the kaiser."

Well, it turns out Weird Al's prediction is coming true a little sooner then he thought. It took Rocky only VI installments to get his restuarent.

Lyrics for Al's song can be found here. I tried to find as clean a page as possible.

Let's only hope Weird Al doesn't get "Christmas at Ground Zero" right too.

Web Slinger Goes Goth

Bad ass.

What more can I say?

First Movie Announcement: The Onion

I was wandering around imdb.com bored in French today. We were watching "Teen Titans" (God help us all), and being me, decided to check out what other productions the voice actors have been in. It just so happens that Beast Boy happens to also be starring in this little jewel.

That's right, it's "The Untitled Onion Movie." I decided to do a little digging, and found a plot summary on JoBlo.com.

Since its creation 15 years ago, The Onion (www.theonion.com) has grown from underground college paper to what the New Yorker magazine called "the most popular humor periodical in world history." Now, the longtime writers/editors at "America's Finest News Source" have written THE ONION MOVIE (working title), a series of sketches that encompasses the sharp, uncensored comic tone of The Onion and sheds light on the various hypocrisies of the world today.

Why haven't I heard about this!?!?! You'd think something with this much kick-ass potential would be mentioned in some kind of announcement somewhere, as opposed to buried in a site's archives of all future releases. I mean, check out some of the characters. "Texas Chainsaw Killer," "Concerned Mother," "Ivy Leaguer." This has the potential for some insane situations, and hopefully will be as enlightening as the The Onion itself.

Movie Roundup

I figure, since I'm just getting started, I should provide a little movie roundup. Hardest part about jumping in is catching up to the current. So, here's a little summary of some movie news goin on lately.

Rocky Balboa. That's right, a 6th rocky movie. Stallone is apparently loving it. In this one Rocky is old (obviously), and is trying to prove he's still got it. Hmmm, sounds like a certain actor I know that happens to be staring in both that, and a Rambo IV. Dude, you're almost 60. I'm pretty sure no one wants to you all sweaty and shirtless anymore. For your own good, quit before you break a hip.

Indy 4. In true Stallone style, Harrion Ford is set to return as that Nazi-hating Indiana Jones. However, in contrast to Rambo and Rocky, I'm looking forward to seeing Indy on the big screen one last time. Ford did all of his own stunts in Firewall, which included getting hardcore punched, jumping through a window, and tumbling down stairs. He's proved he can still do the rough-and-tumble stuff. It's a bit more believable to see an archeologist still at it in his 60s, then to see a boxer and an army killer still going strong once they're WAY over the hill.

Batman Begins II. Obviously not the real title, this is going to be a kick ass movie. It's Joker time. It's gonna be part one of a two-part story arc with Batman falling in love with Harvey Dent and capturing the Joker, only to have the Joker horribly scar Dent, causing Dent to blame Batman and drop him like a hot potato, instead vowing revenge on the Dark Knight. SWEET!! Honestly, I hope that Dent and Batman don't literally fall in love. The last thing we need is Brokeback Batman. Bale is set to reprise his role the the Bat, with Michael Caine (Alfred), Morgan Freeman (Fox), and Gary Oldman (Gordon) all set to return with him. In all the sequal talk, I've heard a lack of Scarecrow talk. Remember, he's still out there, and Cillian Murphey is just plain creepy. Release: 2008?

V for Vendetta. I heard about the movie, and so I bought the comic. Lemme' tell ya, this is gonna be sweet. Head over to Apple's movie trailers and check out both of them for this movie. Despite switching actors for the main character in the middle of production (still no explanation for that), this one looks to be going strong. Time for Agent Smith to put on a mask and take on Britain. *SPOILERS* Joblo.com has a set report and interviews with Weaving and Natalie Portman over here. Release, March 17

Spider-Man 3. Check also over a JoBlo.com. Apparently Spidy is gonna be in black some. I sense a connection to Venom, who apparently is going to be infecting the web-slinger through much of the movie. Venom rocks, Spidey 2 was good, I have high hopes for this one. Release: May 4, 2007

Jurassic Park IV. Apparently sequels to long-dead movie series is poplular now. Producer Frank Marshall was quoted as saying:
"[Jurassic Park IV] has a good script now, so we should have that one up and running next year for release in 2008."
Have you ever just wondered when Hollywood is gonna admit that they need new ideas.

A Scanner Darkly. Based on a Phillip K. Dick novel, this is about a future where everyone is always stoned, and the government is always watching. Fitting for this movie to be about drugs, sense actually being high while seeing this movie would probably be very...interesting. It's trippy enough without being under the influence. Check out Keanu Reeves here. Trust me, and animation is worth it.

X3. That's right. Apparently this may be "the last stand" for our mutant buddies. I just want to see Kelsey Grammer whopping some major ass in his blue, hairy monkey suit. Why haven't they got another trailer out for this yet. C'mon. You can see the "announcement teaser" here.

That's my round-up for now. I'll have more as news comes along. Enjoy.

The Beginning

First off, lemme make this clear.

I hate French.

The title of this blog is merely my attempt to find a semi-original name. Unless you speak French, then I'm about as original as a Rocky movie (HOLY @$#!, NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!).

Ok, dumb references aside, this blog is about movies. I'm a movie lover. I've noticed a lot of sites just borrow movie news from one another. It all gets passed around, and who wants to go from A to B to C to D to get it all, on sites that are usually REALLY slow loading and with lots of wonderful ads showing you all the magical places where, for a nominal fee, you can check out your favorite celebrity nekid. Of course, since most the images they have are from movies they've done, you could also go rent the movie, see the celebrity, and maybe enjoy the rest of the film too.

This site will have little in the way of ads (only ads by Google if I can set it up), not flashy graphics that slow it all down, and can be your one stop source for all your movie news.

So, woohoo. Here I am, post numero uno. Movie world, here I come.
